Top 6 Manifestation Methods

Can you simply think your way to a better life? The power of positive thinking can, in fact, take you a long way in life or at the very least make life a lot more fun. You may or may not be familiar with manifesting or what is more commonly called the “Law of Attraction,” based on the 2006 bestselling book, The Secret, which sold over 30 million copies. There is definitely something to the practice. Yes, just like anything else, it does take some effort on your part. Manifesting is more about action and decisions than about wishing and hoping, although visualization does play a part. Here are my top tips for manifesting in your life.

  1. Develop a Practice of Gratitude

The general concept of manifestation is about making your biggest dreams a reality by taking proactive steps towards what you desire. It is possible to attract into your life what you focus on. My first recommendation to work toward your goals is to find gratitude in every moment. This may sound simple, but it can take time and effort to put into practice. Start with the basics, much like the foundation of a building, and grow up and out from there. Take nothing in life for granted and stay in the present moment. When you wander away, bring yourself back.

If writing in a journal resonates with you, creating a gratitude journal may be ideal. Tamara Levitt, Author and Mindfulness Instructor at Calm, recommends vocalizing ten things out loud every day (ideally out loud to a partner or friend) that you are grateful for. I have found this practice forces me to stretch myself out of my comfort zone to discover new things in life that I may have taken for granted in the past but definitely no longer will.

  1. Reframe Negative Thinking

Negative thinking and feeling often lead to inaction in our lives. Reframing negative thinking or what is also termed cognitive reframing helps to turn that inaction into the ability to take accountability and act. Cognitive reframing has another special superpower. It can transform a potential habit of negative thinking to being better equipped in finding a more positive interpretation of life’s events. There is a great deal of truth to the following quote by Epictetus, “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.” When we think negatively, and we have for some time, there is typically a weaving storyline behind it. This can be born out of things that happened to us when we were growing up, or an undesirable event as an adult that created limiting beliefs about ourselves such as “Good things always happen to other people,” “I will never be good enough at xyz,” or a myriad of other thought processes stemming from what I call our inner critic.

Lastly, reframing can help us to begin to identify the silver lining, even in our most challenging situations. This does not necessarily have to equate to everything happens for a reason, but rather that we can find a lesson in all things that happen to us or for us.

There are a few great examples of positive reframing found here in an article from verywellmind.

  1. What we Focus on Grows

The basis of the Law of Attraction is that positive or negative thoughts, actions, and deeds bring positive or negatives into one’s life. This is based on a person’s energy. While that energy may not be able to be seen with the naked eye, it can definitely be felt or witnessed. Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, “Everything in life is a vibration.” Everything vibrates at different speeds as everything is made up of physical matter. This is not woo woo; this is chemistry.

Focusing on positives while being a realist leads to a higher, lighter vibration while lower, darker vibrations perpetuate lower-level states of mind. Think about things like worry, anxiety, pessimism, etc. The more you think positively, believe in the good, focus on the lessons, and even do good deeds for the right reasons, your vibration remains high. Do good receive good is the theory of the Law of Attraction. You can also view this as like attracts like. You attract what you put out. It is something to pay attention to in your life. Are you attracting your matched energy of what you are putting out into the world?

  1. Trusting your Path

This concept may be tough for some, but there is great power in trusting the path that you are on. You can view this similarly to everything that happens for a reason, but on an upper level. This can be best described as what you are destined for, based on a culmination of your decisions, behaviors, drive, and trusting or knowing; is already somewhat predetermined. That does not mean you can or should sit back and not do the work to make it happen, remember manifesting is more about action and decisions than about wishing and hoping, but trusting that it is yours to be had is a crucial piece.

  1. Essential Oils

We would be remiss if we did not talk about essential oils. Every one of the ideas in #5 can be used alongside essential oils. Here is a list of my top 10 oils to reach for and why:

Angelica (Angelica archangelica)-This musky, earthy aroma is great for all kinds of energy work, including chakra clearing and meditation. Angelica essential oil has an affinity for our crown chakra located at the top of our head. The therapeutics of this aroma is tied deeply into our ability to manifest our desires as it helps strengthen our connection to the divine/universe/god.

Black Pepper (Piper nigrum)-The spicy-sweet aroma of black pepper essential oil is an excellent choice for the throat chakra, helping to unblock and release fears that may be holding you back and keeping you from speaking your truth. Once your fears are no longer holding you back, manifesting what you desire becomes much easier. Roll on or diffuse this oil to rebuild confidence in yourself.

Fragonia® (Agonis fragrans) -This is a less common essential oil among novice users but definitely one you should know about. Fragonia® essential oil is derived from a tuberous shrub native to Western Australia and is deemed safe for all ages. Its aroma is reminiscent of tea tree but much more subtle and soft. Fragonia® provides expansiveness and contentment to the user and is very helpful to support radical acceptance of what is in your life, which is key to a higher vibration.

Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)-This essential oil is good for many things, and our spirit is definitely one of them. Reach for frankincense essential oil to address and move forward with old, unbalanced ways of thinking to encourage your personal growth.

Try Frankincense in one of our bestselling oils, De-Stress.

Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum)- The honey-like aroma of Helichrysum essential oil is a powerful ally to bring out your confidence and personal power. Helichrysum is the first essential oil I reach for to help me to leave habits, events, and people that no longer serve me behind. I recommend you try it too!

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)-The herbaceous and flowery scent of lavender is one of our favorite essential oils to foster a healthy and open intuition. Sit quietly and inhale the aroma to nurture your inner peace and cultivate inspiration and creativity in your daily life.

Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens)-The origins of Palo Santo go back to Inca Shamans who utilized this wood for their religious and spiritual rituals. The aroma is very comforting, enabling the user to purify and cleanse their thoughts. This is an oil that should be used sparingly due to sustainability concerns. A little bit of the oil will go a long way.

Sandalwood (Santalum alba)-Although Indian Sandalwood is the more widely used species, and Western Australian sandalwood is quickly becoming popular as it is more ecologically grown and sourced. Both varieties are equally pleasing to the senses and the spirit. Utilize Sandalwood essential oil to get grounded when you’re feeling out of sorts, and anoint yourself with it before you walk out the door in the morning for a little bit of extra support.

Sweet orange (Citrus sinensis)-Looking for a delicious smelling oil that, once inhaled, you just can’t help but smile? Sweet orange is that oil. It has been shown in studies to help situational anxiety and the most melancholy of moods. An aroma that blends well with just about every essential oil available on the market, it is a must for your wellness toolkit.
