Guide to Unlock the Power of your Solar Plexus Chakra
Your chakras, or energy centers, govern the flow of energy within your body. There are seven main chakras in the body, which begin at the base of the spine and move upward to the tops of your head.
These energy centers, which you cannot see with the naked eye, also correspond to the body's major organs. When you feel out of sorts in any of the seven main chakras areas, you will likely be able to correlate it back to an energy imbalance.
I have already covered the root chakra and sacral chakra. The solar plexus chakra, or Manipura, is located just above your belly button and the bottom portion of your diaphragm.
When the solar plexus chakra is in balance, one exudes self-confidence, personal power, and true vitality. When your solar plexus chakra is open, you will feel at peace with an inner strength to tackle any challenge.
When out of balance, feelings of judgment tend to be strong, both of self and others, the ego is likely to be the driving force over spirit, and a common dark shadow is that of shame. This can be common with the external demands of the world, so getting back to self and what really makes you happy is so incredibly important.
The mantra for the solar plexus chakra is "I can." Do you find yourself being reactive instead of proactive? Do you second guess your ability to succeed and have joy in life? Do you find yourself thinking that good things only happen to other people? If so, your solar plexus chakra may need your attention.
The physicality of your solar plexus chakra out of balance looks like stomach troubles such as indigestion, acid reflux, IBS, troubles balancing sugars due to an imbalance in the pancreas, or mid back discomfort.
Crystals to Support the Solar Plexus Chakra
The color associated with the solar plexus chakra is yellow. If you would like to utilize crystals to provide support, reach for yellow calcite, citrine, golden quartz, or yellow jasper.
Affirmations of Support
Affirmations are positive statements that can be said quietly or out loud to challenge or work to overcome self-limiting beliefs or struggle. Here are a few examples of affirmations for the solar plexus chakra:
-I am ready and motivated to pursue my purpose.
-I have the courage to create promising change in my life.
-I can do everything that I desire with grace.
-I release the judgment of others and myself.
Essential Oils for the Solar Plexus Chakra
Helichrysum: The honey like aroma of Helichrysum essential oil is a powerful ally to bring out your confidence and personal power. Helichrysum is the first essential oil I reach for to help me to leave habits, events, and people that no longer serve me behind, I recommend you try it too!
Juniper: A powerful antirheumatic, Juniper Berry relieves chronic pain and swelling and works wonders on bloating and edema. It also aids the digestive system to help combat obesity and overindulgence.
Myrrh: Myrrh oil, used for centuries to heal and protect the skin, also has analgesic, antibacterial, antiseptic, expectorant, and mucolytic therapeutic properties; it’s great for treating coughs, colds, congestion and flu. Known for its ability to help calm the mind and promote tranquility and peace, Myrrh is also commonly used in meditation.
Ginger: An excellent weapon against inflammation and muscle pain, Ginger has both antispasmodic and carminative properties, making it one of the most effective essential oils in alleviating nausea and other digestive disorders.
Self-Care Tips
If you feel that you are struggling with low self-esteem, are having troubles making decisions, or feel like in order to be happy you have to have control (common for many of us), try and incorporate a few of these practices into your life.
-Create a vision board of things that you want to bring into your life. Focus on things that excite you and things that bring you peace and joy. I like to focus on ways to feel and be rather than solely tangible things.
-Visualization is a powerful tool to utilize at any time in life, but especially when you feel out of balance. A fact that may shock many readers is that our brain cannot truly tell the difference between the real and the imagined (Hamilton, 2014). Make a point to visualize exactly what you want, exactly how you want to feel, and the work it will take to get there. Trust me, it works.
-A commonality of a weakened solar plexus chakra is in our giving a little of our personal power away in the form of unhealthy boundaries. Sometimes that looks like making excuses for others' bad behavior or being fearful of someone's reaction if you told them they hurt your feelings, so you choose to stay quiet instead. Practice setting clear boundaries with others. This is a powerful sign of self-respect. Here are a few examples:
"Thank you for the invitation, but I have been feeling overwhelmed lately and am in
need of some alone time."
"I want to hear about your struggles, but I am also struggling right now. Can I come back to you when I am ready to talk?"
"We can agree to disagree, but I still expect you to treat me with respect."
These tools and practices will help keep your solar plexus chakra in balance, leaving you feeling more harmonious in mind, body, and spirit.
