We mention Human Design a few places throughout the website, so we wanted to take a moment to really dive in and explain what it actually is and how badass it is (spoiler alert: very). In short, it’s a modality of self-discovery. You want to know how you function to better improve your life, and Human Design is a way to accomplish that.

In “long,” we understand how important it is to discover your soul’s highest purpose. That might sound pretty heady (okay, maybe it is. But who doesn’t love some good heady every once in a while?), but it’s just about finding the path that aligns with your gifts and values. You can think of Human Design like a key that unlocks the door to your purpose and how you function in the world. Sure, you could break in without a key, but that sounds like a lot of work (not to mention broken glass)! It borrows a lot from Astrology, so you can think of them like sisters. But we like to imagine it would actually return your sweater after using it. It also pulls from Chinese I Ching, the Hindu Chakra System, and Kabbalah’s Tree of Life. She is #inspired.

Human Design tells you what energy type you are: Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, and Reflector. We’ll give you the skinny on each type in a moment. The way you find your type is very similar to an Astrology chart. You input information regarding your birth and, voila! You are provided with a Bodygraph or Life Chart.

Okay, what are these types? Don’t worry, you don’t have to do any homework. We did it for you (we won’t tell the teacher) and we’ll keep it brief because you’ve got places to be and snacks to eat:

Generators: They like to get shit done, and they have plenty of sustainable, built in energy with which to do it. Need something taken care of? Find a Generator.

So, why is knowing your type so important? Aside from being a fun way to kill time while pretending to get work done on a Friday afternoon, learning your Type can open up a whole new world, a new fantastic point of view, if you will. Understanding how you function can help you confidently make choices on the day to day that will make things easier for you. It also helps us understand our interpersonal dynamics so we don’t fall prey to simple miscommunications so much. And most importantly, it helps you align with your true purpose and passion, which we all deserve!
