Top 7 Essential Oils for Scarring

Top 7 Essential Oils for Scarring

Essential oils and your skin

There are several essential oils for scarring which contain compounds called terpenes, which have anti-inflammatory properties. They also stimulate cell growth and promote healing.  Essential oils are often recommended for treating scars because they work quickly and effectively. However, there are many different types of essential oils, and each one has unique benefits. The best essential oil for scars depends on what type of scar you have. For essential oils scarring from a burn, rosemary is a good choice. Lavender and Tea tree are popular essential oils for acne scars. Peppermint oil is helpful for keloids.

Essential oils are great for skin care because they contain natural ingredients such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. However, if you use too many essential oils, you may end up causing damage to your skin so the proper dilution is important.

While some people who do not understand their unique properties have tried to give essential oils a bad rap in the skincare world, we know better. Essential oils promote healthy skin by balancing tone, reducing redness and dark spots, calming inflammation and promoting collagen. They even have wound healing properties (no surprise mother nature does it all) to prevent scar tissue from forming/growing. Also, we believe in oil by origin so many times the oils grown in the region of your ancestors are the ones that will be the best for you.

How to use essential oils for scarring

Essential oils should always be diluted before being applied topically as they can irritate your skin if used directly and we know they smell good but please refrain from ingesting them.   We recommend diluting the essential oil in a carrier oil. Our oil of choice depends on where you are from and your skin type but as a general rule - jojoba is a great one to use because it is closest to human sebum so absorption is optimal.

How to Use Essential Oil For Scars

Applying the oil topically is the best and most effective method to treat scarring. We recommend using carrier oils such as coconut oil, almond oil, or jojoba to dilute essential oils before applying them to skin.

Dilution of Oils: Use about 12 drops of essential oils per 1oz of carrier oil and recommend applying the oil blend in the morning and night. We always add a drop of Vitamin E oil to the mixture to also help with scarring.
